Oppos new phone will have 4 50 megapixel cameras on the backside

The Find X7 Ultra, Oppo's most recent flagship, is the first smartphone with two periscope cameras, the company said today while introducing the device in China. One has a 1/1.56-inch sensor with a 3x zoom, which Oppo claims is "the biggest telephoto sensor in any smartphone." Larger sensors generally produce better images in low light, which can be problematic for the secondary cameras on some phones. With a 1/2.51-inch sensor, the second periscope lens provides a 6x optical zoom.

Two of the four 50-megapixel cameras Oppo has integrated into the back of the phone are the zoom lenses. These also include an ultrawide camera (sensor size: 1/1.95-inch) and a main camera that is the first on the market to use Sony's second-generation 1-inch-type sensor (the LYT-900). Oppo's new HyperTone Image Engine powers the four sensors on the software front.

The Find X7 Ultra has other specifications that are typical of a flagship smartphone. It is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery that can be fast-charged at up to 100W wired or 50W wirelessly, and Qualcomm's most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor powers it. Its 6.82-inch 1440p screen can display HDR content at a maximum refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 4500 nits.

Regretfully, it appears that the phone will likely stay exclusive to the Chinese market, with no plans to release it in the US or Europe — much like the Find X6 Pro did last year. Pricing in China for a model with 12GB RAM and 256GB of onboard storage starts at ¥5,999 (roughly $845), and the top-end model with 16GB RAM and 512GB of storage costs ¥6,999 (roughly $990).
